The primary inspiration for the Impression house comes from the traditional Chinese gate found in gardens. The composition of the arch creates a passageway between spaces, each offering a different and captivating view. This penetrating arch design creates a beautiful picture-like scenery that adds a touch of elegance to the house.
Upon entering the house, one is greeted with a stunning sight. On the left side, sunlight floods the room, while on the right side, three-dimensional triangular coral red cabinets and glazed blue Italian mosaic tiles create a mesmerizing visual display. This clever use of color and texture creates an amazing sense of wonder and excitement for anyone stepping into the house for the first time.
The Impression house spans approximately 116 square meters and features a multifunctional design. One of the main challenges was to create a space that would cater to the needs of a couple with two young boys. The designers successfully achieved this by incorporating separate play areas for the children while maintaining a cohesive and functional layout.
Located in an old residential area of Taipei, the Impression house was designed to be functional and comfortable. The designers were given the freedom to create a house that would be united with light, fun, and a personal style. The result is a haven of joy in the middle of the city, where different materials and colors blend harmoniously to create distinct areas with their own character.
The Impression house project started in May 2019 and was completed in November 2019. It is situated in a new nineteen-floor building in Taipei's Wan-Hua area. This residential project has garnered recognition and was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2023 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative features. The Impression house stands as a testament to the power of creativity and thoughtful design in creating a unique and inspiring living space.
As Changi Lin, the designer behind the Impression house, puts it, "This house is a reflection of the couple's personality and their love for art. It is a space that brings together color, creativity, and functionality, creating an impression that will last a lifetime."
